Sixth District

President - - - Barbara LeJeune

DEC - - - Carolyn Tate

Home of the first Louisiana War Veterans Home, the Sixth District, is also home of the State Capitol, Louisiana State University, Southern University, and Southeastern Louisiana University.  Nestled along the Mississippi River is the National Center for Hansen's Disease at Carville, Louisiana.  We still have 14 Veterans housed there.

The Mississippi is America's most romantic waterway.  It is still bordered by century-old stately mansions with beautiful white columns and magnificent oaks, draped in Spanish moss.  Even today, when morning mists roll across the river's waters, it is easy to envision a parade of steamboats hooting and chugging along it's course, crowded with cargoes of cotton or cane.

The Sixth District has 33 Units.  It is known for its promotion of Americanism, Public Relations, Poppy program, Field Service and many other Auxiliary programs.
