Seventh District

President - - - Sylvia Mathis

District Seven is located in western
coastal Louisiana and carries such titles as Imperial Calcasieu Area,
Courtableau Country and part of Vermilion country. The entire history is
built around pirates, pine trees, ports, and petro chemicals. It is said
that Jean Lafitte was a regular visitor to this area, and the legend is
carried on each spring during the Contraband Days celebration held in
Lake Charles. Countless other festivals are held depicting various
resources of the area: Rice Festival, Frog Festival, Buggy Festival, Yambilee, and Alligator, to name a few. It is also home to the Coushatta
Indian Tribe, well known for it's land-based casino.
It was once the home of the famous
Chenault Air Force Base, home of The Fighting Tigers, in World War II.
The Seventh District has 31 Units and
is the home of one of Louisiana's former National Presidents, Syble
Deshotel. It is known for its promotion of volunteer work and it's
support of the VAMC at Alexandria and the Jennings Out-Patient Clinic.
