Eighth District

President - - - Nancy Blalock
DEC - - - Lena Allison
The Eighth District is known as the
Crossroads of Louisiana because of its geographical location. This
central region became a blend of cultures, people and food. Boasting two
of the oldest settlements in the State (Natchitoches and Marksville), it
is a very prosperous region. It is very proud of its military
installations, including Fort Polk, the largest in the State. It is also
the home of the VAMC at Alexandria. One of Louisiana's National
Cemeteries is located here also.
The cities revel in their festivals,
including Cenlabration; Christmas Lights; Cochon-de-lait Capitol of the
World; Civil War Re-enactments; Forest Festival; Pecan Festival, the
longest running July 4th celebration in the State and many more.
The Eighth District has 20 Units and
is known for its volunteer spirit. Their promotion of Americanism is
known nation-wide.
