"Team Work Makes the Dream Work"

Department President's Message
Hello Ladies!
We are all off to an awesome start and I could not have done it without the help of you all! You have been cheering me on from the beginning, since day one, right from the start. My year as Department President is also your year. My goal is to make sure every member gets all the information they need to be a productive member and we all have fun in the process.
Each President has a reception. An introduction to what to expect or what's to come. I wanted everyone to be treated equally. Important. To know you are all a part of this year too. You are my "Red Carpet Auxiliary Celebrities". When we work for our Veterans, someone appreciates it. Someone recognizes what we do. Someone remembers who we are. I wanted each of you to walk that red carpet and take pictures for the paparazzi because you are important and you make a difference. We are a team. My motto this year is "Team Work makes the Dream Work". We all have a dream. Each Auxiliary year we start with our goals, our dreams. To be quota plus units, Woman of the Year, have the most field service hours. Our Dreams and Goals are to do our best for our Veterans. That is our #1 priority. We have to work together to be the best Department ever. Louisiana is the team that has a dream and it will work. Work your programs, help our Veterans, send in membership. Be the Team that works together! Make our Dream Work.
I am looking forward to a fabulous year with all of you. Have fun with your membership characters. Work your Auxiliary programs, and get to the castle. The Department. Don't forget everyone has a progression pumpkin. At the end of the year your pumpkin may be a carriage. But you can't get there unless you work your programs. Send in reports to your Department chairmen monthly or quarterly. They will report to me so we can complete our progression chart.
We all have a glass slipper waiting for us to try on. Once you do, and it fits, watch all of your dreams come true for you, our Veterans, their families, and our communities. We Believe in Happy Endings.

"The High Heeled Pin"

Many people ask me why did you choose a high heeled shoe? Why did you choose purple? Marilyn Doucet and I came up with the unique description of the pin. Everyone knows that I love high heeled shoes and I think outside the box, so it is not unusual for me to have a pin shaped like a shoe. But Marilyn came up with the description of the colors and the significance of the the shoe. The color purple is for the 'Purple Heart'. We honor our wounded soldiers. The Poppy is the Memorial flower for the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. Remembering those who died so we may be free. And the high heeled shoe represents every member of our Auxiliary. We don't wear combat boots, we wear heels. Marching on and working for our Veterans, their families, and our communities.
