Hello Ladies!
This years Membership Team is so excited about the goals each of you have set this year and our membership projects we are coordinating along with the membership program to add excitement and fun as we work.
Our membership theme this year is "Saving Our Membership, Working For Veterans, Together We Have the Power, Together We are One.
I chose this theme because we are loosing membership in large numbers each year. And the only way we can save it, is to work together. We have to keep in contact with our units and districts and help them address membership issues that may be affecting the Department as a whole. We have the Power and Louisiana is One Department, One Sound. We are One. If our membership fails, our Veterans and the programs we have that are geared towards assisting them fail because there will be no one to work them.
So ladies, lets get busy!
Our Membership project this year is "Barbara's Angels", based on the "Charlie's Angels" theme. We are Super Hero's saving our membership. Like Charlie's Angels, sometimes we have to bring out the big guns. Go to the units, visit the districts, call your presidents on all levels to get your membership in. And unfortunately, sometimes, we are our own Villains. We hold membership, we don't turn it in on time, we do things that hurt us as a whole. So try and work together and get in that membership!
Our Department President Barbara White is 'Charlie'. She gives out the duties. "Ladies, let's get in our membership so I can have a quota department".
Our Department Secretary Cherie Bossenmeyer is 'Bosley'. She makes sure we get our jobs done. She makes the calls when you don't send in the correct information, emails you when you don't send enough money, and mails it all back to you if it is not correct.
Our Senior Members are "Barbara' Angels" (Charlie's Angels). Working our to save our membership.
Our Junior Members are our 'Angels in Training'. They are our future. We must lead by example because they see everything we do. We need to give them the guidance they need to continue on as Senior members. We must teach them the ropes and show them what it is to be a Leader. Many of them have shown excellent Leadership skills. Let's continue to keep these young ladies on the right path.
Our Past Department Presidents, who have laid a strong foundation for us all are our 'Super Hero Diva's'. Many of them have asked, "What is this Diva thing?" These ladies are well respected and we have learned something from each of them while they were president and years after. These ladies know the ends and outs of the Auxiliary and Membership which gives them a "power" that we may lack. Their elegance and grace along with wisdom, make them, DIVA's. A Diva has class, grace, and is a leader with a little sass.
Each year we do something fun while working our membership. This year each district is to design a Super Hero costume from an item that is membership related and come up with a creative way to recruit members. At our Membership Party in January at the Mid-Winter Conference, the districts will get a chance to show off their finished projects and costumes. Now, the designers of the costumes will be the District's DEC's. They will be designing the costumes for the District Presidents to wear. The District Presidents have to come up with a "new" idea to promote membership. The District with the best idea and costume will be our winner. You can use things like membership applications, transmittal forms, etc to create our costume.
The Second part of our project goes along with our National President's theme, "The Power of One-Service Not Self". We have planned a sock collecting contest for our Department. We will collect socks this year for our Troops and Our Veterans. This is a rewarding project as it is service to others. In January, we will tally our sock counts for our unit winners and then off to distribute to our Veteran's. To keep it fun, everyone is encouraged to wear crazy socks all weekend at Mid-Winter. I will have prizes for the funniest socks.
Now, we all have our assignments. You all know your jobs. Lets get busy and save our membership!!
