Maggie Watts
Auxiliary President 2007 - 2008

Maggie Watts of Tickfaw was installed as the 87th President of the Department of Louisiana American Legion Auxiliary on Sunday,      June 10, 2007 in Alexandria.  Her eligibility is through the service of her husband of 45 years Owen D. "Bobby" Watts, Louisiana's American Legion ANEC.  Bobby served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era.

They are proud parents of three sons John, Sam and Maurice; and nine grandchildren Dena, Austin, Tyler, Brittany, Caroline, Bailey, Maurice, Jr., Catherine and Jonathon Patrick.  All are members of the American Legion Family.

She is a 20-year member of Tucker A. Gregoire Unit 258 in the 6th District located in Springfield.  Maggie has served numerous offices and chaired many committees within her Unit.  On the District level, Maggie served as President for two terms and was awarded "The Outstanding District President Award" each term.

On the Department level, Maggie has served as President-Elect, Vice President, Historian and Department Executive Committeewoman.  She was also chairman of the following committees:  Children & Youth, Education, Field Service, Girls State, Junior Activity and Poppy.  Maggie has been awarded National Awards for programs she has chaired within her Unit and Department, and especially proud of the National President's Award for Excellence her Unit received for her chairmanship in Community Service during 2004 - 2005.

One of the many highlights of her membership is serving as Girls State Co-Director 2006 - 2007 whereas she reorganized the program to conform to National program requirements by holding second Girls State sessions in same year allowing Louisiana's first Girls State Senators to attend Girls Nation. 

Maggie is a 45 year member of Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, a seven year Partner of Eight and Forty Salon 859, member of the Louisiana Association of Building Contractor, Nesom Middle School PTA and Holy Ghost Catholic School Grandparent Association.

Maggie is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La. having majored in Finance and Management.  She presently owns and operates several businesses.
