Kathy Thistrup
Auxiliary President 2009 - 2010

Mrs. Wilson J. (Kathy) Thistrup of
Westlake was installed as the 2009-2010
President of the Department of Louisiana
American Legion Auxiliary.
Kathy was elected to the office of
President-Elect at the June 2008
American Legion Auxiliary State
Convention held in Alexandria, La. and
installed as the 90th State
President on June 14, 2009.
Kathy is a life resident of Westlake and
has been a member of the American Legion
Auxiliary for 40 years. She is eligible
through her father, Frank Daigle
(deceased) a WWII veteran, grandfather
Willis Gallier (deceased) a WWI veteran
and her brother J. N. Corbello, Jr. a
Vietnam veteran.
Mrs. Thistrup began her journey as a
junior member of William A. ”Bill”
Guillory American Legion Auxiliary Unit
370 and in 1983 she and her father were
installed as the first recorded
father/daughter to serve as Commander
and President jointly in the state of
Louisiana.
Kathy has also served as President of
Westlake Veterans Memorial American
Legion Auxiliary 407, where she was a
founding and charter member. While a
member of Unit 407, she was instrumental
in forming the annual Westlake Police
Appreciation Banquet and the Holiday
Food Drive at S.P. Arnett Middle School.
She is currently a member of Andrus-O’Quain
American Legion Auxiliary 179.
She has served as 7th
District 1st & 2nd
Vice President, served as 7th
District President in 1987-1988. Many
chairmanships later on District and
Department level, including Americanism,
Community Service, Poppy, Education, & V
A & R, her journey began to Department
President upon her election as
Department Chaplain in 2005. Kathy has
gone on to serve as Department Historian
2006-2007, Department Vice President
2007-2008, Department President-Elect
2008-2009, and now holds the office of
the 2009-2010 Department President of
the American Legion Auxiliary,
Department of Louisiana.
